How we reported this
The City of Corpus Christi is holding a series of three public meetings to gather input on the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. The first session begins Monday, June 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Owen R. Hopkins Public Library. The second session is set for Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ethel Eyerly Senior Center on 654 Graham Road.
The City previously held seven community input sessions for the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget across all Council Districts, with final sessions occurring in August 2025. Residents can also provide input through a community-wide survey launched by the City of Corpus Christi.
Changes to Public Comment at City Council Meetings
Residents wishing to speak during public comment periods at City Council meetings must now sign up at least one hour before the meeting begins via online registration or at the City Hall kiosk. This requirement took effect July 15, 2025. The General Public Comment Session at City Council meetings has been moved to 12:00 p.m., where in-person speakers receive three minutes to address the Council.
These adjustments affect how Corpus Christi residents participate in decisions about city services. Input gathered at the library and senior center sessions, along with survey responses, will inform budget priorities that shape daily services such as public facilities and community programs.
Next Steps for Residents
The remaining budget input sessions will continue the series started at the Owen R. Hopkins Public Library. Residents seeking to address the City Council directly must follow the updated sign-up process at City Hall or online. The city survey remains available for those unable to attend in person.
These processes allow residents to connect their experiences with local services to the Fiscal Year 2027 budget discussions. Details on the full schedule and survey access are available through the City of Corpus Christi.
