Phishing as Primary Threat to Daily Operations

Over 90% of cyber attacks begin with phishing emails, which remains the number one way hackers infiltrate networks in Corpus Christi schools and organizations. CyManII and Texas Cyber Command hosted critical infrastructure cybersecurity training at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi in February 2026 to strengthen Operational Technology defenses against real-world cyberattacks. The Del Mar College Cyber Center, a partnership between the City of Corpus Christi and Del Mar College, assists local small and mid-sized businesses by increasing cyber awareness and developing response plans. Nearly half of all cyberattacks target small businesses in the Coastal Bend economy, primarily through digital deception like phishing scams.
